Overview of Pathways Mentorship 8 Program
The PM8 (Pathways Mentorship 8) program in conjunction with Algonquin College and SCWI (School to College to Work Initiative – The School/College/Work Initiative is a cooperative effort of the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) and the Committee of College Presidents (COP) and is jointly funded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training) ran again this year at various elementary / middle schools sites within the OCDSB.
This program focused on selected grade 8 students at each school site – providing them with the opportunity to learn more about:
- Pathways (college, university, apprenticeships and world of work);
- Specialized Programs that exist in high school & post secondary destinations (e.g. Focus, SHSM, IB, Arts programming) and;
- Supporting and honing in on their interests, skills and how to transfer their skills to the world of work.
This program has been extremely successful in supporting students in their understanding and development of potential pathways that are available both within high school and beyond.
