The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has approved a new strategic plan for 2011-2015. The Strategic Plan, as expressed through our strategy map
In June 2010, the Board approved the framework for the development of the district’s strategic plan for 2011-2015. The framework outlined a six phase process which would lead to the presentation of a draft strategic plan in May 2011.
Consultations with the community were a critical element of the strategic plan development process. 15 Schools for the Future Consultation sessions were held in the fall of 2010 and were attended by over 500 participants.
In depth discussions on strategic planning were held by the Board and senior staff in February and March. Together, the Board and staff reflected on what was learned through the community consultations and an environmental scan.
Over the month of April, the key elements of our next strategic plan were compiled into a strategy map.
The District hosted two public open houses in May to learn more about the key elements of the plan, as outlined in the strategy map. Thank you to all who joined us and provided feedback. Feedback was also collected through online consultation forums throughout the process via a blog, facebook page, twitter account and email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The strategy map was reviewed and amended by the Strategic Planning and Priorities Committee (SPPC) on June 1st 2011.
On June 14th 2011 the Strategic Plan, as outlined in the Strategy Map, was revised and approved by the Board of Trustees.
Overview of the Strategy Map
There are four main components to the Strategy Map:
- Vision 2015 - Intended to be an expression of where we want the organization to be at the end of the four year plan.
- Objectives 2015 - Indicators that help to explain how we will know if we have achieved our vision at the end of the plan.
- Mission - An expression of our values and a statement of the work that we will do to achieve the vision.
- Four Key Priority Areas - The foundation of our mission statement, the four key priority areas are well-being, engagement, leadership and learning (W.E.L.L.).
Next StepEvery year the Board adopts a set of annual district goals for the upcoming school year. These goals outline the key work that the staff will undertake in support of the strategic plan. District Goal documents can be found in the resources section on this page.
