Continuing Education Programs
Registrants requiring temporary physical arrangements for their own special equipment or services are asked to contact the Continuing Education department at 613-239-2325 at least two weeks before the start of the course in order that we may best meet individual needs. Our policies and procedures which have been developed in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 are available upon request.
1) We will make every effort to ensure that our policies, practices, and procedures are consistent with the core principles of independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity.
2) We invite people to use their own personal assistive devices to enable them to access our goods and to use our services.
3) We will make every effort to communicate with a person with a disability in a manner that takes into account his or her disability.
4) We invite people with disabilities to be accompanied by their guide dog or service animal in those areas of the premises we operate in. If a service animal is excluded by law, we will use other measures to provide our services to the person with a disability.
5) We invite people with disabilities who have a support person, to bring that person with them while accessing our goods or services in premises that are open to the public.
6) Where admission/course fees are charged, we will provide notice ahead of time on what fee, if any, would be charged for a support person of a person with a disability.
7) We will ensure that reasonable notice will be provided when facilities or services that people with disabilities rely on to access or use for our goods or services are temporarily disrupted.
8) We will train staff, volunteers, contractors and any other people who interact with the public on a number of topics as outlined in the customer service standard.
9) We have established a process for people to provide feedback on how we provide goods and services to people with disabilities and how we respond to any feedback and take action on any complaints. We have made this information available to the public.
Community Use of Schools
In the event of a service disruption, the permit holder will be contacted and the reason for the disruption will be indicated. Permit holders are expected to identify members of their group who have disabilities and notify those members in the event of a service disruption. Permit holders are encouraged to listen to the radio and check the Board website during winter months or in the event of severely inclement weather for possible disruptions of service.
This procedure has been developed in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Feedback is welcome on our services, please visit our website at www.ocdsb.ca for more details.
