Curriculum Services
Our Curriculum Services Department, under the leadership of Superintendent Pino Buffone, comprises seconded academic staff including principals and teachers serving as instructional coaches to schools, in addition to administrative support staff. We are responsible for curriculum implementation in all subject areas as well as the implementation of all Ministry of Education initiatives.
Within this department falls the Quality Assurance division, which is responsible for providing support primarily to district and school improvement planning processes. Staff within the division is responsible for: conducting program reviews/evaluations; coordinating the collection, analysis and reporting of a variety of measures of student achievement; reviewing requests from external organizations to conduct research in our schools and district; coordinating the development and implementation of district-wide evaluations in grade 10 math and grade 12 English; and, facilitating the administration of provincial (EQAO) assessments in grades 3, 6, 9 and 10.

If you are new to Canada, have a school-aged child, and English is not your first language, the Family Reception Centre can assist you with enrolling your child in school. The Centre’s staff will provide student assessment and guidance for English language learners and their families.
Parents/legal guardians with permanent resident status, diplomatic status, on work or study visas, or who have refugee status should make an appointment with the Family Reception Centre. You will need to bring your immigration documents, immunization records, and previous school records.
