Employment Opportunities
The Human Resources Department of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has completed reviewing district needs for Occasional Teachers for the 2010-2011 school year. Based on our review, we have identified the following needs for occasional teachers:
Elementary:
FSL qualified teachers (Primary, Junior and Intermediate divisions);
Due to the number of occasional teachers remaining on the list, we will not be adding, with the exception of FSL, to the elementary occasional teachers’ list. Should other areas of need/shortage be identified through the school year, the District will post the specific shortage area on www.applytoeducation.com.
Secondary:
FSL qualified teachers (Intermediate/Senior divisions with two subject teachables);
and
Applicants recommended by Principals (up to two per school)
Due to the reduction of occasional teachers on the secondary list, we will be adding approximately 60 teachers. Principals will be reviewing on-line portfolios on www.applytoeducation.com prior to October 29, 2010, and recommending up to two applicants per secondary school to the central interviewing process.
Should you require assistance with your on-line portfolio, please contact Apply to Education Customer Support at 1-877-900-5627 ext. 224.
Only applicants who are recommended to the central interview process will be notified.
FSL Qualified Teachers:
If you haven’t already done so, FSL qualified teachers must make application to www.applytoeducation.com (Job Posting # 150559).

Applicants who are currently registered in FSL (for fall program) may also apply. If selected for an interview, you will receive an email notification (during November). The first set of Interviews for FSL qualified applicants will be scheduled on November 1, 2010.
Central Interviewing Process (FSL and Secondary Recommended):
Applicants will be expected to bring a professional portfolio, based on OCT Standards of Practice, to the interview. Your portfolio may include items such as a letter of introduction, resume, official transcripts, statement of educational philosophy, sample lesson materials, supervisor evaluations and a professional reference list.
Interviews will be conducted by teams of Principals and Human Resources staff.
Subject to a successful interview and positive professional reference checks, your name will be added to the list.
As a condition of hire and prior to being added to the list you will be required to provide Human Resources with the following documents:
Those hired may also be asked to attend an orientation session as a condition of hire.
