The Classroom

OCDSB classrooms are designed to meet our ten exit outcomes. Our classrooms are student-focused settings. OCDSB classrooms inspire student learning and well being.

High-school classrooms reflect the transition that students are facing, allowing for independence but also offering an encouraging environment. Classrooms at all levels have interactive technology, books and much more. We understand the classroom is not just 4 walls and a door – we know students learn in non-traditional learning spaces as well.  Learning is happening in gardens, gymnasiums, and off site locations every day.

Explore Your Options

Educational planning is very important to your success in high school. Making informed decisions will help you to choose the most appropriate courses for your strengths, interests and abilities. Take a few minutes to read about district programs and pathways to success. Ensure you understand the course codes when you are making your selections.

High School Credit Information

You need 30 credits to graduate; 18 of which are compulsory courses.  You also require 40 hours of community involvement – don’t wait till the last semester of grade 12 to start worrying about your volunteer hours – try and do 10 hours each year of high school.

One more thing - you must successfully complete the EQAO Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course to receive your diploma.

High School can be some of the best four years of your life - get involved - meet new people - and expand your mind.
