The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) supports the use of our schools and facilities as Community Hubs. Partnering with community organizations and service providers can enhance student learning and well-being, and can also introduce students to more opportunities which support their development as engaged citizens. When organizations in the community, who may not otherwise be connected to the OCDSB, use our facilities, it forges more meaningful ties for us to our neighbourhoods.

In March of 2015 the Ministry of Education released a set of provincial guidelines which encourage school boards to reach out to potential community partners in an effort to optimize the use of public assets.
To formalize and embed the role of schools as community hubs and to update our existing practices, the District adopted a policy which will provide direction for the future.
This policy was approved by the Board in November 2015 after the completion of a public consultation process.
