The Ottawa Carleton District School Board gives international students the opportunity to choose an educational path that best suits their interests and goals. While living in Ottawa, students can benefit from the excellent programs offered by the OCDSB.

Academic and Cultural Experience
By attending school in Canada and living in an all-English speaking environment, students gain an understanding of Canadian culture and of the English language that they cannot get from a classroom experience in their own country.

Academic Graduation
Students can complete high school in Ontario and earn an Ontario Secondary Diploma (OSSD).

University/College
In the senior grades, courses are offered to prepare students for university, college and workplace preparation.

English as a Second Language
Several high schools offer ESL instruction. Students at the secondary level can earn credits for successfully completing ESL courses.

Ottawa Carleton Education Network  - International Reach
The Ottawa-Carleton Education Network, Inc. (OCENET) is a nonprofit corporation that acts internationally to develop and market programs of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Under the name Ottawa International Student Programs, OCENET promotes the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board to international students interested in coming to Canada to study.

OCENET works closely with Ottawa-Carleton District School Board staff to develop programs that will appeal to the international market and that will provide the Ottawa Carleton District School Board community with opportunities to interact and learn from international students and educators.

This year OCENET welcomed and provided support for 206 international students from 23 countries attending school at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board schools.  Sixty-two elementary students were enrolled in 31 elementary schools, and 144 high school students in 19 secondary schools.  The students were spread through as many schools and students as possible to enhance the opportunity to develop strong ties with students living abroad.

International students are expected to be positive role models for our students and to act as positive role models while they are here. All international students must be strong academically and are required to submit school transcripts and a letter of recommendation before being accepted to an OCDSB school. International students are also required to pay tuition fees.
