Westwind Public School

Westwind PS English Attendance Boundary PDF
JK to 6 Westwind PS Early French Immersion Attendance Boundary PDF

It is now official. The new Stittsville elementary school at 111 Hartsmere Drive will be named Westwind Public School. The school is named after one of the first developments in our school zone called Westwind Farms. The school's library will be named the Daisey Jinkinson Library - after a beloved Stittsville area teacher. Thank you to all families and community members who provided input and support throughout the naming process.

First Day of School

The first day of school is almost upon us. Westwind staff are waiting with excitement to welcome our new families. School will open on Sept. 6th. Staff will be available from 9:00a.m. to greet families with children in grades 1 to 5. Kindergarten children will be involved in orientation meetings inside the school. Homeroom teachers will be located in the school yard at the back of the building with class lists and signs indicating their name, grade and room numbers. Other staff will be available to support parents in locating the appropriate class. Grade 2, 2/3 and 3 teachers will be meeting students on the basketball court to the west of the building. Grade 3/4, 1 and 1/2 teachers will be on the asphalt between the kinder yard and the junior play structure. Grade 4 and 5 teachers will be on the asphalt on the east side of the building next to the library. In the event of rain, we will move indoors. Gr. 1 and 1 /2 students will go to the library. Students in grade 2 to grade 5 should proceed to the 2nd floor. A map of the upstairs classes and class lists will be posted in the main foyer and upstairs in the alcove in the center of the school. We look forward to seeing you on September 6th.

Kindergarten Orientation

We will be offering a staggered entry process for JK and SK students to ease the transition to school.

On Sept. 6th and 7th welcome activities will take place and parents and children will be invited to attend school at a specific time. Families will have the opportunity to meet the kindergarten teams and tour the classrooms. Bussing will not be provided for kindergarten students on these days.

All SK students will begin full day attendance on Sept. 8th. A portion of the JK students will attend on Sept. 8th and the other portion, on Sept. 9th. All JK and SK students will be in full attendance on Sept. 12th.

The Extended Day Program will begin on Sept. 8th for all kindergarten children. JK children enrolled in the Extended Day program will be attending school with the first group on Sept. 8th. Information regarding kindergarten orientation activities will be forwarded to parents in August.
