New 2009 Education Development Charges By-law Study

The Education Act provides a school board with the ability to implement an Education Development Charges By-law if there is residential development in the area of jurisdiction of the board that would increase education land costs. As per the legislation, education development charges (EDCs) may be levied against land undergoing residential and/or non-residential development.
