This is to inform you that at its meeting on January 25, 2011, the Board approved the following recommendations from the Manor Park Alternative Program Consolidation Study:

STUDY OVERVIEW
At meetings in February and June 2010 Trustees passed motions directing staff to develop a consultation plan for consolidating the Manor Park Alternative Program at another Alternative Program school, for implementation in September 2011. The initial Board motion in February was one of a number of Board decisions arising from the recent Elementary Alternative Program Review.
At the Board meeting on November 29, 2010 Trustees approved the timelines and consultation plan for this study. Report 10-200 ‘Manor Park Alternative Program Consolidation Study’ includes the approved study timelines and consultation plan.
In accordance with the approved consultation plan, the scope of this study includes Manor Park
Public School, Lady Evelyn Alternative School and Riverview Alternative School. Lady Evelyn and
Riverview are the two Alternative Program schools closest to Manor Park Public School and its
Alternative Program boundary. Staff has explored options for realigning the Alternative Program
boundary for Manor Park Public School so as to redirect students to either of these schools. It is expected that current Manor Park Alternative Program students would be given a one time option to remain at Manor Park Public School in the Regular English Program or enter the Early French Immersion Program (current JK students only).
As part of the approved consultation plan, a Public Meeting will be held at Manor Park Public School on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 7:00 pm to review options for realigning the Manor Park Alternative Program boundary and to present the preliminary staff recommendations for feedback.
Following the Public Meeting, feedback on the options and preliminary staff recommendations can be provided by e-mail, fax or regular mail.
Final staff recommendations will be presented to the Business Services Committee on January 12, 2011 and to the Board of Trustees on January 25, 2011 for a final decision.
