Further to receiving input from school communities, staff recommended the introduction of a new Middle French Immersion program at Robert Hopkins Public School and Henry Munro Middle School as part of Report No. 10-249 ‘Beacon Hill Area New Middle French Immersion Program Site Recommendation’
which was submitted to the January 12, 2011 meeting of Business Services Committee.
The recommendation was not tabled during the meeting which means that a new Middle French Immersion program will not be introduced in the Beacon Hill area at this time.
Please note however, that the introduction of a new Middle French Immersion program in the Beacon Hill area may be re-examined in the future.

Over the past few years, as a result of recommendations contained in the review of elementary French Immersion programming, the Board has been expanding the number of schools offering a Middle French Immersion program.
As part of this process, staff has submitted to Board a report which examines the proposed introduction of a new Middle French Immersion Program in the Beacon Hill area for September 2011.
In this regard, please click on the following link to view Report No. 10-199 “Introduction of New Middle French Immersion Program in the Beacon Hill Area 2011-2012”, which details the proposal and consultation process.
Report No. 10-199 Introduction of New Middle French Immersion Program in the Beacon Hill Area 2011-2012
Please note that the report has been sent to principals and School Council representatives of schools which may be affected by the introduction of a new Middle French Immersion program in the Beacon Hill area. (Carson Grove Elementary School, Henry Munro Middle School, LePhare Elementary School, Queen Elizabeth Public School, and Robert Hopkins Public School). We have requested their school community’s input.
Key areas where we would appreciate receiving community input include determining if there is interest in introducing a Middle French Immersion program in the Beacon Hill area and, if so, at which school site.
Following receipt of input from school communities, staff will bring forward a recommendation regarding the possible introduction of a new Middle French Immersion program to the January 12, 2011 meeting of the Business Services Committee. To ensure your feedback is incorporated in the recommendation report we would appreciate receiving your submission by Monday, December 20, 2010.
