Presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The Board is seeking community input regarding a proposed grade, program, and attendance area for a new Chapman Mills elementary school to be built at the corner of Chapman Mills Drive and Leamington Way. The new school is planned to open in January 2013.
The study which was approved to set an attendance area for the new school in Chapman Mills was also tasked with alleviating accommodation pressures at neighborhood schools, in particular Barrhaven Public School and Farley Mowat Public School, and preparing all schools for the introduction of full-day kindergarten.
As a result, please note that this process will result in changes to attendance areas, grade structures, and feeder school alignments at a number of area schools, not just those directly impacted by the opening of the new Chapman Mills elementary school.
A proposed accommodation plan will be presented at the public information meeting on September 26th in order to foster discussion and receive feedback from the community. The plan is the result of a local working committee process which commenced in March of this year.
Schools which may be impacted by the proposed plan are: Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School, Barrhaven Public School, Berrigan Elementary School, Cedarview Middle School, Farley Mowat Public School, Jockvale Elementary School, Mary Honeywell Elementary School, John McCrae Secondary School and Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School.
