Labour Relations - OSSTF Central Agreement Ratified
The
central agreements with teachers and education workers represented by
the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) have now been
ratified. This follows from the ratification of central agreements with
the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) last month.
With
the central bargaining process now completed, local bargaining
continues between the OCDSB and local bargaining units of the OSSTF and
ETFO.
Central
negotiations are done by the provincial representatives of the employee
(unions) and the employer (the Ontario Public School Boards’
Association represents the OCDSB). The government, through the Ministry
of Education, is also required to participate. Decisions about which
items are negotiated locally or centrally is determined by the central
table. Those items not considered “central” are then handled at a local
level.
