Students go back to school on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Drivers are reminded to be extra cautious on the roads during this busy time of year.
- Drive the speed limit. Be careful while driving in residential areas. Speed limits are reduced in school zones and playground zones.
- Stop when you see the school buses flashing red lights and the extended stop arm. Do not continue - until the flashing lights are turned off.
- Crossing guards are there to protect children – follow the rules.
- Do not pass other cars in a school zone – ever!
- Watch out for cyclists.
- Shoulder check before opening your vehicle door.
- Leave extra time to reach your destination.
- If see a reckless driving or suspect a driver is impaired, pull over as soon as it is safe to do so, and report the incident to police by calling 911.
- If you drive your children to school – let the kids off away from traffic.
- Walk a block. It helps avoid vehicle congestion in the immediate area of the school.
