New Fernbank Elementary School

Following the Ministry of Education announcement of capital funding in July 2020, the Fernbank Community will be welcoming a new elementary school with 628 pupil places and 39 child care spaces.  The school will be located on the south/west corner of Rouncey Road and Cope Drive - 480 Cope Drive, adjacent to Rubicon Park.

The opening date is currently scheduled for September 2022. The new school will be a dual-track kindergarten to grade 6 facility, offering both an English program with Core French and an Early French Immersion program.

The new school’s attendance boundary will be bounded by Hazeldean Road to the north, Iber Road and Robert Grant Avenue to the west, Fernbank Road to the south, and Terry Fox Drive and the Carp River to the east (see following attendance boundary map).

New Fernbank Elementary School - How to Register

New Stittsville Secondary School

Following the Ministry of Education announcement of capital funding in March 2018, the Stittsville Community will be welcoming a new secondary school with 1353 pupil places to serve grades 7 to 12 students in the Stittsville area. The school will be located on the south/west corner of Robert Grant Avenue and Cope Drive – 700 Cope Drive.

The opening date is scheduled for September 2023.  The new school will offer an English program with Core French, an Early French Immersion program, and a Middle French Immersion program to grade 7 and 8 students.  It will offer English and French Immersion programing for grade 9 to 12 students.

The new school’s attendance boundary will be bounded by Highway 417 to the north, Fallowfield Road to the south, and Terry Fox Drive and the Carp River to the east (see following attendance boundary maps).

New Half Moon Bay Elementary School #2

Following the Ministry of Education announcement of capital funding in July 2020, the Half Moon Bay Community in south Barrhaven will be welcoming a new elementary school with 674 pupil places and 39 child care spaces.  The school will be located on the south/west corner of River Mist Road and Kilbirnie Drive – 989 Kilbirnie Drive.

The opening date is currently scheduled for September 2023. The new school will be a dual-track kindergarten to grade 6 facility, offering both an English program with Core French and an Early French Immersion program.

The new school’s attendance boundary will be bounded generally by Cambrian Road to the north, Borrisokane Road to the west, Barnsdale Road to the south, and Longfields Drive and Prince of Wales Drive, to the east (see following attendance boundary map).

New Riverside South Secondary School

Following the Ministry of Education announcement of capital funding in October 2020, the Riverside South Community will be welcoming a new secondary school with 1516 pupil places, along with two child care rooms with 39 licensed child care spaces. This will be the first secondary school for the OCDSB in the growing Riverside South community

The new Riverside South Secondary School will be located at the intersection of Spratt Road and Earl Armstrong Road. The opening date is scheduled for September 2024.

With the funding now approved, the OCDSB will be able to establish timelines for the building process.
