Join the Discussion - Police Involvement in Schools

The OCDSB is holding a policy and practice review of the Police Involvement in Schools Policy. This includes a review of the School Resource Officer role in schools as well as a review of all activities that involve police in school that are identified as legally discretionary. Input will be sought on recommendations for the way forward.

You are invited to join us for group discussions to gather perspectives on how and when administrators are involving the police in schools, including how they utilise the School Resource Officer; and the outcomes, impacts, including any unintended impacts.

In March and April, the OCDSB will be holding a series of group discussions for students, parents and community members.

Discussion Group Schedule: Please visit this page for dates and to register.

These will include general group discussions, as well as discussions focused on individuals who identify as racialized and faith-based, 2SLGBTQ+, African Descent/Black, and Indigenous. There will also be discussions translated in Arabic and Somali, and specific discussions for students and parents from Gloucester and Ridgemont high schools.
