OCDSB Staff COVID-19 Vaccinations

The OCDSB has developed a COVID-19 Vaccination Protocol concerning staff, along with other individuals who frequently attend at schools or workplaces. This procedure is guided by our commitment to provide and maintain a safe working and learning environment for all students, employees and visitors.

It includes the following key elements:

  • All OCDSB employees must be at least partially vaccinated by no later than 30 September, 2021, and be fully vaccinated by no later than 15 November, 2021, in order to attend at an OCDSB school/building. New employees will be required to provide evidence they are fully vaccinated as a condition of employment.
  • Provision for employees who are unable to be vaccinated for reasons related to a disability or creed based restriction, as defined by the Ontario Human Rights Code, by submitting a request for an exemption or accommodation.
  • Exemptions from some aspects of the procedure for employees based on their current assignments, including those who work exclusively remotely.
  • Potential employment-related consequences for employees who are not partially or fully vaccinated by the established timelines (30 September and 15 November, respectively), without a documented and approved exemption or accommodation, including leave without pay.
  • Interim requirements, pending the above-noted deadlines, for employees who are not yet fully vaccinated, including.
    • Completion of a COVID 19 Vaccination Education Program (excluding employees who are exempted due to medical/disability).
    • Undertaking regular (at least twice weekly) rapid antigen tests.
  • Under the procedure, it will also be mandatory for other individuals who frequently attend at schools or workplaces, for example, students in a work placements, volunteers, and 3rd party contractors, to be vaccinated. Accommodations on the basis of protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code will also be a consideration.

Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, and corresponding changes in the advice and direction provided by public health agencies and the Ministry of Education, the Procedure will be reviewed and updated as required.
