Hello Students,
In
the coming weeks many families in our OCDSB community will be
celebrating holidays or marking important occasions together. In
December this includes Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice, Yule, Yalda,
Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Zarathushti. In early January, many will observe
new year celebrations, Orthodox Christmas, and the Birthday of Guru
Gobind Singh Ji. We would like to send our warmest wishes to all who
will be observing these and other celebrations throughout the winter
holiday season.
Please take a look at our MultiFaith calendar to learn more, and be aware of these important dates for the last day of school before the winter break, the first day of school after the winter break, and more.

Save the Date: 2023-2027 Strategic Planning Process
The
OCDSB will be developing a new strategic plan for 2023-2027. Our goal
is to create a simple, measurable and impactful plan that is meaningful
to our students, staff and community members. An important step in the
development of the plan is community consultation, which will include
in-person and virtual opportunities taking place in early 2023. More
information will be shared in the coming weeks, but please save the
following dates for our large-group consultations:
- January 12th, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Ottawa Technical Secondary School
- January 19th, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Bell High School
- February 2nd, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Virtual (via Zoom)
Weekly Snapshot from Ottawa Public Health
Ottawa Public Health has provided another Respiratory Virus Snapshot,
sharing flu, RSV, and COVID-19 data from the past week. This week’s
update also covers a few things to keep in mind as we approach the
holiday season. Please take a moment to read their overview and practice
the recommended actions, including masking, vaccines, staying home when
sick, and hand hygiene to keep ourselves and others healthy.
