Hello Students,

A reminder that Monday, May 22nd is Victoria Day. There will be no classes on this day, and all OCDSB schools and administrative sites will be closed.

2023-2024 School Year Calendars

Dates for the 2023-2024 school year have been approved by the Ministry of Education. Check out the secondary school year calendar for the 2023-2024 school year on our website.

2023-2027 Strategic Plan: Share your feedback on the draft plan

The information gathered through the consultation and environmental scan has been used to shape a draft strategic plan that outlines the OCDSB’s mission, values, and areas of focus for 2023-2027. This version is a working copy and we invite you to send us suggestions and feedback by emailing [email protected]. Once the content is finalized, the strategic plan will be designed, branded, and shared with the Board for final approval in June. Learn More.

Classroom Chronicles

Forty OCDSB grade 11 and 12 students, together with Director of Education Michele Giroux, recently  joined the Voices in Action Breakfast on Parliament Hill. This breakfast is hosted annually by Senator Yonah Martin to celebrate Asian Heritage Month and encourage networking across diverse cultures. Read more about how schools across the District are celebrating diversity.

Upcoming Events

  • Rainbow Youth Forum: The students of the OCDSB 2022-2023 2SLGBTQ+ Voices Program are proud to present the 18th annual Rainbow Youth Forum. The 2023 edition will feature workshops and opportunities to connect with each other. Interested students (Grades 7 to 12) can contact their school for registration and more details.
  • Wednesday, June 7: Black Youth Forum. Students who identify as Black are invited to join us for our sixth annual Black Youth Forum! You will have the opportunity to learn, share, and engage with others in a fun and supportive environment. Registration and more information will be shared at a later date.

Important Dates in the Week Ahead

  • May 22-28: Citizenship Week. Each year, Citizenship Week is an opportunity to celebrate and welcome new Canadians, take action in our communities, and more.
  • May 25: Shavuot. Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that celebrates receiving God’s Torah on Mount Sinai, and marks the conclusion of seven weeks of personal and communal introspection following Passover.

Have a wonderful long weekend,
