Finishing your high school diploma is easier than you think!
The OCDSB’s Continuing Education Department offers a variety of pathways to help adults to earn credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or prepare for college/university entrance.
We offer the following ways to earn credits towards your high school diploma:
- Virtual Night School
The Virtual Night School Program offers a variety of credit courses to adults and students from all school boards.
- Co-operative Education
Earn credits while you work! Use your current job or volunteer experience to help you earn high school credits.
- Independent Study
The Independent Study Program offers an opportunity to work on a credit course independently with some face-to-face course facilitator support.
Earn Credits for your Previous Experience
Mature students and newcomers! Have you been out of school for 1 or more years? Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and Mature Student Evaluation (MSE) are formal evaluation and credit-granting processes through which mature students may obtain credits for prior learning (the knowledge and skills that adults have acquired through education, work and life experience).
***You must be enrolled in a high school credit course (such as Co-operative Education or Night School) to take advantage of PLAR or MSE. For more information about PLAR and MSE visit the Prior Learning Assessment and Evaluation/Mature Student Evaluation webpage
