Are you interested in supporting the OCDSB’s culture shift to be a more equitable and inclusive learning and workplace community by identifying and addressing systemic barriers such as racism, heterosexism, cisgenderism, ableism and faithism that impact student and staff success and well-being?

If you are …

         A parent or guardian with children enrolled in the OCDSB and/or:

         Identify as a member of the following communities:

» First Nations, Metis or Inuit;

» Racialized groups (i.e. African, Black or Caribbean (ABC) ; Chinese, South Asian, Lebanese);

» Creed-based/religious;

» Person with Disabilities,

»     2SLGBTTQ+; or

» Immigrants and Newcomers to Canada and/or

         An identified ally to equity seeking groups; and/or,

         A community organization, agency, group and/or association representative of communities experiencing systemic barriers and marginalization and/or serving these communities through adiversity, equity and inclusion centered mandate

And, you have …

         a strong interest and commitment to student achievement and well-being;

         knowledge and understanding of the link between equity and inclusive education;

         an enthusiastic approach and ability to motivate and support others;

         the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with representatives from various communities who may have diverse opinions and perspectives;

         the ability to think critically and strategically;

         the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and respect for others; and,

         the ability and willingness to attend meetings during the academic year, and to serve a two (2) year term.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is seeking eleven (11) Community Representatives to serve on its Advisory Committee on Equity (ACE) for a two (2) year term ending in November 30, 2020.

ACE’s mandate is to advise the Board of Trustees on the review, development, implementation and monitoring of all policies which support the members of the school community and encourage student achievement and well-being.
