Autism Awareness Month 2021: Virtual Speaker Series

The month of April is recognized as Autism Awareness Month. The goal of this month is to help in the building of stronger, more inclusive communities for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This month also includes World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 and Autism Ontario’s Raise the Flag for Autism campaign on April 6. The OCDSB will celebrate autism awareness throughout the month of April.

Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder that affects one in 66 children. It occurs in all racial, ethnic and socio-economic groups and affects the way people interact and communicate with those around them. Each child and adult with ASD is unique and has their own strengths, gifts and support needs.

We invite all OCDSB families and staff to join in the Autism Awareness Month celebrations. Sign up for our virtual speaker series; take part in the province-wide Raise the Flag for Autism campaign; and print out our colouring page and share your creations with the hashtag #AutismAwarenessOCDSB.
