Bullying Prevention & Intervention

The OCDSB believes that bullying is a serious issue that has far reaching consequences for both the students involved and the entire school community. Providing students with an opportunity to learn and develop in a safe and accepting school is a responsibility that the OCDSB takes seriously and in support of which has developed a Bullying Prevention and Intervention policy and procedure.

Every school in the OCDSB is required to annually complete a Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan. Safe and Accepting School teams work to make sure that schools are safe and welcoming for all. In addition, the OCDSB provides numerous training courses and sessions in order to better equip staff to deal with bullying in their schools. Bullying Prevention & Intervention Programs for students are also offered to schools to support a positive and accepting school culture.

Input into creating a positive school climate is conducted on a regular basis through surveys conducted by the OCDSB in collaboration with The Learning Bar. This is an opportunity for students and parents/guardians to have a voice and this information helps inform schools in the development of the bullying prevention and intervention plan.
