Languages are much more than the words we use. They contain stories, history, culture and identity.
We
want to preserve and celebrate the languages of First Nation, Inuit,
and Métis students in OCDSB. To do so, we will be asking Indigenous
students (grades 7-12) and parents/caregivers to participate in our
Indigenous Languages Survey.
Your
thoughts are crucial for us to understand what First Nation, Inuit and
Metis languages are in our district and the challenges students face in
learning and using them.
This
survey is about the experiences, difficulties, and hopes regarding your
languages. We want to hear from First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students
and parents and caregivers, including those reconnecting with their
communities. Your answers will help us create effective plans to support
language revitalization actions in the OCDSB.
The
survey is completely voluntary. Taking part is your choice, and your
answers will be kept private and confidential. The information we gather
will be used to guide our efforts to revitalize Indigenous languages in
the OCDSB.
Please
share your thoughts openly, as they're essential for helping to
preserve and learn about the languages of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis
communities.
The survey is open until: January 31, 2024
