The Education Foundation of Ottawa (EFO) needs your support on Toonie Tuesday – February 21, 2023. Their mission is to reduce barriers to ensure ALL students can learn confidently by providing the things every student requires: appropriate access to food, clothing, school supplies, healthcare supports, and opportunities for learning and recreation.
Last year’s Toonie Tuesday raised $68,000. This year’s goal is to raise $80,000 to support OCDSB students with what they need to be successful.
There are many ways for families and community partners to get involved:
- Make a one-time or monthly donation to the Toonie Tuesday campaign online.
- Donate through your School Cash Online account or send your child to school with $2 (or more) anytime between now and Toonie Tuesday (February 21st, 2023).
- Businesses can choose an item where $2 or 2% of every sale goes to the 2023 Toonie Tuesday Campaign. If you are, or know, a business owner who would like to participate, contact [email protected].
We will be sharing more information about Toonie Tuesday on our website.
School Councils can help support this important initiative by spreading the word and hosting fundraising activities. Here are a few ideas:
- Hold an event, contest, sale/auction, or other fundraising initiative to spread the word and encourage families in your school community to participate.
- Follow EFO on Facebook and Twitter, and share about Toonie Tuesday on your School council social media accounts.
- Share information about Toonie Tuesday at your next School Council meeting.
The Education Foundation of Ottawa (EFO) exists to reduce barriers for OCDSB students in need. They are a grassroots organization that does not receive government funding and relies solely on individual and corporate donations, as well as successful funding applications from other granters. Dedicating fundraisers and directing donations to support the efforts of the EFO are important ways to not only increase knowledge and awareness about our work, but also to instill a sense of responsibility among students and their families to give back to our school community.
