Supporting Gifted Learners in Grades 9-12
- Students moving to the grade 9 gifted program from an OCDSB grade 8 specialized gifted class may transition with no further assessment or referral required.
- All secondary age students who meet the OCDSB’s identification of giftedness are eligible to apply for the gifted secondary credit program.
- Current psychological data (see Required Documentation section below) is required for students applying to the gifted program from a Regular classroom placement, including for students who have previously been in the Gifted Program and have returned to a regular classroom.
- Once in the Gifted Program, no further assessments are required to stay in the program each subsequent school year, as long as the student remains in the program without interruption.
- Please note: Students will only be able to register at their designated site should they be deemed eligible by the school’s gifted referral review committee based on the following criteria:
Cognitive Criteria: (grades 9-12)
- CCAT-7 with scores at the 98th percentile in two of the three scales and at least 90th percentile on the third; OR
- WISC-V or Stanford-Binet FSIQ and/or GAI score at least at the 98th percentile

- anecdotal report (list behavioural, academic and social challenges; include a list of interventions)
