The intent of the OCDSB's multi-year plan for program reviews is to:
1. ensure that OCDSB students have access to high quality programs based on research-based best practices that lead to improved students learning and achievement;
2. ensure that departmental work plans are aligned to the Board's Strategic Plan; and,
3. provide trustees and the public with insight into programs that will be reviewed in the upcoming years.
Program reviews overseen by Curriculum Services and Learning Support Services are intricately intertwined with other review processes throughout the school district (e.g., accommodation reviews, expansion of MFI/EFI sites, and development of a diversity framework).
The multi-year plan for program reviews will be reviewed and revised on an annual basis. There are several factors that will influence the scope of the planned program work in the school district. Some factors include: changing/evolving priorities of the Ministry of Education; the board's strategic plan, goals and objectives; and the availability of human and financial resources to support the work of the reviews and the recommendations emerging from the reviews.
Four categories of program reviews have been defined along with criteria for each level of review:
1. Formal Program Reviews
2. Program Monitoring
3. Ministry Reviews of Curriculum Documents
4. Implementation Phase of Program Reviews/Monitoring
The formal program reviews currently being undertaken by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board are as follows. Please check back often for more information and to learn more about upcoming reviews.
