Dear OCDSB Families: ​ Thanks to the tireless efforts of hydro crews from Ottawa and beyond, more communities continue to have their power restored, which means we will be able to open more schools for students on Friday, May 27, 2022. Unfortunately, we know many in our community are still without power and we can appreciate the considerable challenges this creates for families. We have opened some schools as charging stations to assist community members. Details are included towards the end of this email.

The OCDSB will be opening Canterbury High School, Roberta Bondar Public School, Woodroffe High School, and Carleton Heights Public School from 4-9 pm on Thursday May 26th and Friday May 27th, to allow the public in impacted areas to charge devices.

The storm in Ottawa on May 21 has had a tremendous impact on our community. Over the past 24 hours, our Facilities staff have been inspecting schools. There are a number of schools with downed trees, broken branches, and debris.

Many people have asked about the status of the mask mandate in OCDSB schools and administrative buildings. Currently, an end date has not been established. We are working with Ottawa Public Health to monitor these key COVID-19 indicators in the community and associated risk factors, which will inform the lifting of the requirement. We will continue to keep families and staff informed.
