Each school year, OCDSB schools have several professional activities (PA) days during which staff participate in a number of professional learning areas in support of student learning, and achievement, equity, and student well-being.
On these dates, students remain at home but schools remain open for school staff to engage in their learning and professional development as a school team. Educators have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of anti- racism and oppression, review student progress and achievement, create plans for intervention and support, review and share evidenced based practices, and create next steps for their learning, among other areas.
The Ministry of Education’s regulation 151 states that school boards must designate three Ministry Priority PA Days and may designate up to four additional PA Days per school year.
