OCDSB Board of Trustees Congratulates the Director of EducationThe Board of Trustees extends a warm congratulations to Director Camille Williams-Taylor who has accepted a new position as Director of Education with the Durham District School Board starting in January 2023.

Chair Lynn Scott said, "This is wonderful news for Camille and her family. For the past four years, Camille has been an inspirational leader to the students and staff of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. She has been instrumental in helping to build a culture of innovation, caring and social responsibility. With her guidance, the Board has made significant progress in actioning its commitment to Indigenous education, equity, and human rights. We deeply appreciate her contributions to public education in Ottawa.”

In sharing this news, Director Williams-Taylor said “This was an extremely difficult decision. It has been an absolute privilege to serve as your Director of Education. I have learned so much over these past four years and am grateful for the warmth of the OCDSB community. As much as I have enjoyed everything that Ottawa has to offer, Durham is ‘home’ to me and to my family. I hope that people will understand that this new opportunity will allow me to bring more balance to my professional and personal responsibilities.”

This announcement comes at a busy time in public education. The OCDSB is fortunate to have a very dynamic, newly-elected Board of Trustees, and a very talented and experienced senior leadership team. The new Board has been busy working through a robust orientation program and will continue to be supported by Director Williams-Taylor in the coming months.

In the weeks ahead, the new Board will begin the decision-making process to initiate the search for a new Director of Education. Chair Scott said, “It is very important we move quickly to ensure a smooth transition. Over the next year, the new Board will recruit a new Director and develop a new Strategic Plan for 2023-2027.  Our diverse and talented new group of trustees will be well positioned to undertake this work with the best interests of our students in mind. ”
