October 23-27 is Media Literacy Week

Media Literacy Week is a chance to learn more about how to stay safe online, analyze what we see in the media, evaluate sources of information, be responsible digital citizens, and more.

There’s a different theme for each day of the week: Use, Understand, Engage, Access, and Verify, and MediaSmarts covers them through games, workshops, tip sheets, and more. Take a few minutes to look at the other resources on the MediaSmarts website and enhance your media literacy.
As part of this week, Digital Citizenship Day is recognized on October 25. MediaSmarts provides a variety of
videos and resources on digital citizenship, which explore topics including ethics and privacy; positive technology use; sharing information; and empathy and community.

Additionally, visit Common Sense Media for more resources. Common Sense Media is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century.
The following infographic summarizes key findings from Media Smarts’ latest study on the digital lives of young Canadians. To learn more about this infographic, see this report.
