Posted on 09/26/2018
Orange Shirt Day 2018Orange Shirt Day, which is held each year on September 30, is an opportunity for First Nations and non-First Nations to raise awareness about the legacy of Residential Schools in Canada, and to participate in a visual representation of solidarity and reconciliation. This year, September 30 falls on a Sunday - so OCDSB schools are commemorating Orange Shirt Day throughout the week of September 25th and into the first week of October. Events are taking place at schools in every zone in the District. OCDSB students and staff will be wearing something orange to show their solidarity with residential school survivors and their commitment to honouring the healing journey and the ongoing process of reconciliation.
