September 27th is Rowan's Law DayWednesday, September 27th is Rowan’s Law Day, which honours Rowan Stringer’s memory and raises awareness about concussion safety.

In May 2013, 17-year-old Rowan died as the result of head injuries she sustained while playing rugby. The Ontario government passed concussion safety legislation known as Rowan’s Law in 2018, which included the declaration of Rowan’s Law Day on the last Wednesday of September. The day is dedicated to promoting awareness of concussions and the importance of having strategies to prevent, identify, and manage them.

On and leading up to Rowan's Law Day, in addition to throughout the school year, OCDSB schools will have in-class education and discussions about concussions and concussion safety.
