In response to recent high-profile national events, successful grassroots campaigns, and growing public concern about colonial and racial injustice, the OCDSB is currently looking into revising its 2001 Policy P 107 SCO - Naming of Schools and Facilities and Opening Ceremonies.
The policy was discussed at the Ad Hoc Policy Committee’s meeting on September 14, 2023. The District’s report to the Committee can be reviewed here, along with the proposed revised draft of the policy here. These revisions aim to reflect our contemporary social context and bring an equity lens to the policy.
