Approved List of Food and Dairy Product Providers for Elementary Schools
Posted on 10/16/2023

The OCDSB is committed to making its schools a healthier place in order for students to reach their full potential. A healthy school environment supports student achievement and enhances students’ social and emotional well-being. All Ontario school boards are required to ensure that all food and beverages sold on elementary school premises meet the requirements as outlined in the Ministry’s School Food and Beverages Policy (PPM 150).

For information on what schools need to know about the Food and Beverage Policy, please see our School Food and Beverage Policy and refer to Procedure PR.649.SCO - Use Of External Food Providers In Elementary Schools.

The Procedure: Selection of a Food Provider section states the principal may involve staff and the school council in the selection process and that input from staff and the school council may be sought regarding the selection of the provider, selection of menu items, determination of frequency, recruitment of volunteers, and processes for administering the food program.

The School Food and Beverage Policy is particularly relevant for School Councils as there are potential implications to fundraising activities. For more information, see the Healthy Fundraising section on our School Council Fundraising page.

The OCDSB revises its list of providers of food and dairy to schools every year. We aim to ensure that schools have access to local suppliers of healthy nutritional food at a reasonable cost. Working with councils and providers the list is regularly updated to reflect changes in both providers and the needs of schools.

Here is the current list of food and dairy product providers for 2023-2024. Please note, these lists are subject to change.

If you have any questions, please speak with your Principal.
