About Virtual International Language Classes

The OCDSB is offering virtual international language classes through the Continuing Education department International and Indigenous Languages Program. These classes are designed for JK to Grade 8 students and will be delivered through the use of different online tools.

The focus of the Elementary International and Indigenous Languages Program is to provide students an opportunity to develop the ability to listen, speak and write in a new language or to maintain the language of their home or heritage. In so doing the students will benefit by:

  • Enhancing the concept of self and heritage
  • Improving communication with parents/guardians/grandparents/family members
  • Strengthening cognitive development through the knowledge of an additional language
  • Learning and experiencing a new language and culture
  • Building a bridge between the Canadian and heritage cultures.

Previous exposure to the language is not necessary.
