Hillcrest High School Raises More than $6,100 for Movember

Last month, students, staff and families at Hillcrest High School once again participated in the Movember high school challenge to raise awareness and funds in support of men’s health. The school raised $6,143 for the initiative – ranking 8th in Canada out of 252 participating schools!

Hillcrest High School has been participating in Movember since 2012. For the past two years, students in the Foods class prepared cupcakes for a fundraising bake sale. This year, participants shared messages of support, sported moustaches beneath their masks, and kept score of the funds raised with a push-up challenge. Hillcrest teacher Mr. Olson teamed up with John McCrae Secondary School teacher Mr. Stoppels to do one pushup for every dollar raised.

Movember is an annual global movement in support of men’s health. The funds raised through the project support initiatives including mental health and cancer research. Way to go, Hillcrest!
