Handmade Cards Bring Holiday Cheer to Seniors

Students across the OCDSB used their creativity to bring holiday cheer to senior citizens in our community. Through an initiative led by iGenOttawa and The Good Companions, classes at several schools have created holiday cards, letters, artwork, and ornaments to be shared with seniors who will be spending the holiday season on their own this year.

iGenOttawa is supporting The Good Companions’ Santa 4 Seniors initiative by inviting students and community members to contribute cards and crafts. These handmade tokens will be included in gift baskets, along with other items like food and clothing, which will be distributed to seniors who live alone.

A number of OCDSB schools took part in this initiative, including Broadview Public School, Castor Valley Elementary School, D. Roy Kennedy Public School, Featherston Drive Public School, Hopewell Avenue Public School, Kanata Highlands Public School, Nepean High School, North Gower Public School, Stittsville Public School, and Woodroffe Avenue Public School.

Check out the gallery below to see some of their heartwarming creations. What a great example of the OCDSB Culture of Caring in action!
