Black Future Month and Our Role In It Webinar

On March 1st, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the OCDSB is pleased to present a webinar with Dr. Clyde Ledbetter Jr., Mentorship Program Manager at Jaku Konbit. This webinar will discuss ways in which Black youth (and their allies) can use Black Future Month to create effective strategies to enhance the well-being (mental, physical, financial, cultural, etc.) of their local and global community.

Black Future Month is a time for African and Afro-descendant People to get together to strategize how we can use the information and ideas we engaged with in February (Black History Month) to further the development and advancement of the African World. The month has a focus on youth and how they can use their talents to create a future more just and equitable than the present. 


About the Speaker


Dr. Clyde Ledbetter Jr. is an alumnus of Lincoln University and received his Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University in 2013. He earned a second Masters degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford. He has taught in a private K-12 African-centered school in Philadelphia as well as at several colleges and universities in the U.S. including: Temple University, Lincoln University, and Cheyney University. In addition to co-editing the book Contemporary Critical Thought in Africology and Africana Studies with Dr. Molefi K. Asante, Dr. Ledbetter has also published articles on Malcolm X as well as various topics concerning human and peoples’ rights in the African world.
