Ontario Government Approves Construction of Stittsville Secondary School

The Ontario government has given approval to the OCDSB to proceed to award the tender for construction of a new Stittsville Secondary School.

The $48 million investment is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students.

The new school construction will allow for 1,353 classroom spaces for students in grades 7 to 12. The new school will be located at the southwest corner of Robert Grant Avenue and Cope Drive. The opening date for the school is currently scheduled for September 2023.

Lynn Scott, OCDSB Board Chair and Trustee for West Carleton - March/Stittsville/ Rideau- Goulbourn, said, “It has taken a very long time, and the pandemic has impacted our costs and schedule, but I’m delighted that Ministry of Education has now approved our use of some additional funds from our capital reserves to proceed on our project. Very soon, Stittsville residents will be excited to see shovels in the ground and construction beginning on our new high school.”
