May 10 is Bear Witness Day / Journée de l’ourson témoin
Each year May 10th is Bear Witness Day / Journée de l’ourson témoin, which honours the memory of Jordan River Anderson. This day is Spirit Bear’s birthday and the date to recognize and commit to implementing Jordan’s Principle, a legal rule ensuring First Nations children can access the services they need when they need them.

OCDSB staff, students, and families are invited to ensure that Jordan’s legacy is respected through the full and proper implementation of Jordan’s Principle in the following ways:
  • Registering for the online screening of Spirit Bear and Children Make History on May 10 at 1:30 PM. Visit the Bear Witness Day Screening webpage to register and learn:  https://fncaringsociety.com/bear-witness-day-screening
  • Placing a teddy bear or a drawing of a bear in your window
  • Spreading the word and posting photos on social media using the hashtags #JordansPrinciple and #BearWitnessDay.
For information and activities, visit the First Nations Caring Society's Bear Witness Day webpage at https://fncaringsociety.com/BearWitness. Take a stand with First Nations children, families, and communities by supporting its full implementation on May 10!
