About this program:

This summer, the OCDSB Continuing Education department, in partnership with the OCDSB Indigenous Education team, will be offering a learning opportunity for Indigenous OCDSB students currently in Grade 8-12.

Students can earn one academic credit while learning from Indigenous teachers, Elders and Traditional Knowledge Holders. This 5-week learning program will be delivered in-person at Woodroffe High School.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips and hands-on activities.

This opportunity is ideal for Grade 8 Indigenous students looking to earn a credit while transitioning to Grade 9. It is also open to all other secondary Indigenous students, including those entering Grade 10-12 in the fall, and those currently in Grade 12 who require an additional credit. Secondary students will have an opportunity to learn with and mentor younger students while earning a credit toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. 

IMPORTANT: Students are required to attend the full summer school session (110 hours) to meet curriculum expectations outlined by the Ministry of Education. Vacations and holidays should not be taken for the duration of the course.

Eligibility: 

  • Indigenous Grade 8 students entering grade 9 in 2021-2022 or those entering grade 10-12 in the fall, and those currently in grade 12 who require an additional credit.
  • Must be currently registered in an OCDSB school
