Appointment of New Supervisory Officer

Reg LavergneThe OCDSB is pleased to announce the appointment of  Reg Lavergne to the position of Superintendent of Instruction. Reg will begin this new role effective August 16, 2021.

Reg has been an educator for over 23 years, and has been a teacher, department head, vice principal, principal and system principal with the OCDSB. Throughout this career, he has been a passionate advocate for empowering student voice, helping students to see themselves as capable and successful learners. This commitment has been demonstrated in several recent District initiatives in which Reg has played a leadership role, including the expansion of experiential learning programs such as Specialist High Skills Majors, School within a College, Authentic Student Learning Experience, G8 credit accumulation initiative, and Launch 2020/2021. Over the past three years, Reg has built bridges of support for students transitioning from elementary to secondary school through his work with the elementary Student Success Coordinators. 

A committed lifelong learner, in addition to his Bachelor of Education, Reg has earned a degree in music, a Master's in Education and is currently working on completion of a Doctorate of Education through Western University. His research focuses on organizational improvement planning to actively seek and action student voice in education supporting staff capacity to create new learning experiences for students. 

Reg's experience and skills are well aligned with the District's strategic priorities. His capacity to bring an equity lens to student success will be instrumental in our efforts to build a culture of innovation, caring and social responsibility across the OCDSB.
