About Cooperative Education
Earn credits while you work! Use your current job or volunteer placement to help you earn high school credits towards your Ontario High School Diploma.


If you are 18 years of age or older, work part-time or full-time (and are not enrolled in a regular high school), you are eligible to register in the Cooperative Education program. You can use your current job to help you earn high school credits. Individuals who volunteer with registered charities or publicly funded institutions may also enroll in the Cooperative Education program. The Cooperative Education Program can be combined with Night School or Independent Study to help you reach your goals.

Registration Information

When can I register and begin the program? Registration is ongoing throughout the year (September until June).

What documents do I need in order to register? If you do not have access to any of the following documents, contact us and an Education Advisor can discuss your options with you. 

1) If possible, your Academic Transcript or any Academic Record (you are still eligible without these documents) 2) Proof of Address in Ontario 3) Proof of Status in Canada Is there a cost for this program? This program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Adult Co-op is *free for Ontario residents (*depending on Status in Canada). How do I register? Earn Credits for your Previous Experience


Mature students and newcomers! Have you been out of school for 1 or more years? Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and Mature Student Evaluation (MSE) are formal evaluation and credit-granting processes through which mature students may obtain credits for prior learning (the knowledge and skills that adults have acquired through education, work and life experience).

***You must be enrolled in a high school credit course (such as Co-operative Education or Night School) to take advantage of PLAR or MSE. For more information about PLAR and MSE visit the Prior Learning Assessment and Evaluation/Mature Student Evaluation webpage.
