Nadia Towaij

Nadia is the Superintendent of Program and Learning Innovation, K-8 and the Board Math Lead, K-12. She is entering her ninth year as a member of the OCDSB’s Senior Leadership Team.  

Nadia is a graduate of the former Carleton Board of Education and started her career as a French, math and science teacher. Prior to teaching, Nadia was an educational researcher focussed on increased student outcomes in mathematics and literacy. She has served as a classroom teacher, Vice-Principal, Principal, system Principal, and school Superintendent. Nadia was seconded full time to teach in the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Ottawa, and is an internationally certified Correcteur and Formateur for the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes de Langues Secondes). She has helped lead provincial work tied to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), and serves on the French as a Second Language Provincial Working Group. 

Nadia is the District lead for Board and School Improvement planning for Student Achievement and Well-Being, the Ministry of Education Student Achievement Plan, and Math Achievement Action Plan. She collaborates with all academic departments in support of quality professional learning, PA Day planning and learning, and professional learning for administrators and educators in support of increased student achievement and well-being. Nadia co-led the destreaming of kindergarten in the district and served as the lead for destreaming, K-12. Nadia is looking forward to her key work in 2023-2024 focussing on increasing student achievement in mathematics and literacy across the district.
