Shannon Smith is the Superintendent of Education for Central West OCDSB schools. She is responsible for the Indigenous Education division and collaborates with various departments to ensure Roadmap Milestones are being met and updated.
Shannon has extensive elementary and secondary teaching and administration experience, with a focus on special education. As a former Principal of an OCDSB secondary school, Shannon has collaborated with many stakeholders to support significant changes in special education programming to better serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Currently, Shannon supports the Alternative Schools Advisory Committee, Advisory Committee on Equity, and Indigenous Education Advisory Council. She also recently supported the development of the Sankofa Summer Academy and Indigenous Summer Learning Program, and supported the move of all Summer Programming to virtual formats during the COVID-19 pandemic.
