anuary 29th is the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia.

January 29th, 2022 marks the 5th anniversary of the Quebec Mosque shooting, where a gunman burst into the Islamic Cultural Centre, killing six people and seriously injuring 19 others. 

The OCDSB remembers the victims and their families and stands with the Muslim community against Islamophobia and all forms of hatred.  

In January of 2020, Muslim communities initiated the Green Square Campaign of solidarity and hope. The campaign encourages everyone to wear a patch of green fabric from January 25 to January 29 in memory of the victims and to be in solidarity with everyone who continues to suffer the consequences of this hateful violence.
