School Earth Hour Challenge: March 25th, 2022

Since it began in 2007, Earth Hour has become the world's largest grassroots movement in support of the environment. Each year, people all around the world take part in Earth Hour to raise awareness about climate change.

This year, OCDSB schools are encouraged to take part in the Earth Hour challenge on Friday, March 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (times may vary depending on each school’s schedule). Schools can participate by turning off lights and other electronic devices that are not required for the hour in order to bring awareness to climate change.

If your school participates in Earth Hour, we’d love to hear about it! You can share your Earth Hour activities and pictures on social media (remember to tag @OCDSB) and by using the OCDSB’s secure environmental educators networking platform, The Sustainability Journal. If you have any questions about this program don’t hesitate to contact [email protected]

If you’d like to take part in Earth Hour at home, turn off your lights on March 26th from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
