About this program:
This summer the OCDSB Continuing Education department, in partnership with the Equity Program team, will be offering a credit opportunity for 2SLGBTQ+ students. Eligible students will have the opportunity to supplement and enrich their high school education by acquiring one credit. Students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips and hands-on activities.
IMPORTANT: Students are required to attend the full summer school session (110 hours) to meet curriculum expectations outlined by the Ministry of Education. Vacations and holidays must not be taken for the duration of the course.
Course Options:
PPL1O (Healthy Active Living Education, Grade 9, Open)
EMS3O (Media Studies - Grade 11, Open)
Please note: Course is subject to change or cancellation.
Eligibility:
- PPL1O - 2SLGBTQ+ Grade 8 students entering grade 9 in the 2024-2025 school year or High School students who have not yet completed the courses.
- EMS3O - 2SLGBTQ+ High School students who have completed Grade 10 English, Academic or Applied.
- 2SLGBTQ+ High School students who require an additional credit
How to Register:
OCDSB Student Registration: Please register by completing this Building Bridges Summer 2024 Registration Form (OCDSB students).
All Other Students (Non-OCDSB): Please register by completing this Building Bridges Summer 2024 Registration Form (Non-OCDSB students).
Registration documents: All non-OCDSB students will be required to provide the following documents to the Continuing Education department:
- Proof of successful completion of the prerequisite course. You will be required to upload a file or a picture of your supporting document(s). (ex: Transcript, Credit Counselling Summary, Credit Status Sheet).
- Proof of Status in Canada. You will be required to upload a file or a picture of your supporting document(s). (Ex: Birth certificate, Passport, PR card, Immigration documentation, etc)
- Proof of Residence in Ontario. You will be required to upload a file or a picture of your supporting document(s). (Ex: Rental/Lease/Purchase of Sale agreement, current property tax statement, current utility bill (Hydro, Gas, phone, Internet provider), Home insurance policy, Car insurance policy, Bank statement, etc. Note: We are unable to accept a Driver’s License as proof of Ontario Residence).
Student Fees:
Student fees are required for:
- International students (must be living in Ontario in order to participate in this program)
- Students residing outside of Ontario at the time of registration.
The fee for a Summer School credit is $500.00 + 3% administration fee payable online by Visa or Mastercard. Payment information will be provided upon receipt of the registration.
